The core objective of this project was to provide a user-friendly Content Management System (CMS) that allows the client to add and maintain a database of heritage sites, crafts, and traditions from all over India. The client approached Team IndiaNIC to redesign and redevelop their website, as the previous version was plagued with technical glitches and had poor UI/UX design and performance. The purpose was to create a website where the admin could list heritage sites, upload relevant documents, and create awareness about India’s cultural landmarks as the first step towards their protection.
Limited awareness and understanding of the technical aspects of website development and maintenance hindered the client's ability to effectively manage the platform and its content.
The team researched the old website to understand the functionality glitches. There was a challenge to migrate the contained information of more than 2000+ heritage sites of India. There was a custom feature called the travel planner which needed to be developed. Every single heritage was meant to be accustomed to this travel planner, which was a tedious process indeed.
Discovery: The project team conducted in-depth discussions with the client to understand their requirements, pain points, and goals. They analyzed the existing website to identify areas of improvement and gathered user feedback to inform the redesign process.
Planning: Based on the insights gained from the discovery phase, the team formulated a detailed project plan outlining the scope, timeline, and deliverables. They collaborated closely with the client to align their expectations and ensure a shared vision.
Development: The design prototype was created, considering the client’s branding guidelines and incorporating modern UI/UX principles for a seamless user experience. The frontend development team implemented the design using responsive web technologies, while the backend team built a robust and scalable CMS system to manage the heritage database effectively.
QA and Software Testing: Rigorous testing procedures were implemented to identify and resolve any technical issues or performance bottlenecks. The QA team conducted functional testing, usability testing, and performance testing to ensure a high-quality end product.
The overall approach to the project involved a comprehensive and iterative process encompassing the discovery phase, planning, development, and implementation.
The project yielded significant outcomes, providing numerous benefits to the client and users alike. The redesigned and redeveloped website offered an intuitive CMS system that empowered the client to effortlessly manage the national heritage database, leading to increased efficiency and accuracy in data maintenance. The improved UI/UX design enhanced the user experience, resulting in higher user engagement and participation. The website’s enhanced performance and stability addressed the technical issues of the previous version, ensuring a smooth browsing experience for users. Overall, the project contributed to the client’s mission of promoting and protecting India’s cultural heritage by creating an informative and accessible platform for heritage enthusiasts, researchers, and the general public.
