STRATIS was contracted by multiple property owners to implement intelligent access solutions on their premises. This involved installing smart locks, developing a management app, and providing IoT integration services. To address challenges faced by property staff, STRATIS aimed to streamline the key management process and enhance the residents’ access control experience.
Streamlining key replacement and management was crucial due to the extensive property size and numerous units, significantly reducing time and physical effort for staff.
Key Replacement and Management: With 350 buildings, 411 units, and over 900 students spread across 104 acres, property staff faced significant challenges in replacing and managing keys. The process was time-consuming and physically demanding, particularly in extreme weather conditions.
Time-consuming Key Authorization: Creating new keys involved staff physically visiting the unit door location for authorization, leading to a daily average of 3 hours spent on key-related tasks.
The development journey of the React Native IoT mobile app commenced with a thorough Requirements Gathering phase. This initial stage was dedicated to meticulously collecting essential information, encompassing the identification of key features, defining the target audience, and delineating the project’s scope. Following this, the project transitioned into the Architecture Design phase, where the app’s structural framework was meticulously planned. This phase involved mapping out the user interface, establishing data flow pathways, and specifying system components to ensure a cohesive and efficient app. Development then moved forward using an Agile methodology, with iterative sprints focused on implementing specific features and functionalities.
Quality was a paramount concern, as extensive Testing procedures were carried out to guarantee the app’s seamless functionality, with the assistance of automated testing tools such as Appium. Finally, after meticulous development and rigorous testing, the app was prepared for Deployment. It was made available to users through app stores, providing them with a fully functional tool to download and utilize for their IoT needs.
The project followed a systematic approach from requirements gathering to deployment, ensuring a well-designed and tested React Native IoT mobile app for users to download and utilise.
